Bantam chicks - what breed and sex?

With Easter Eggers, it's often VERY hard to determine the color of future plumage. :) Just recently, I received a nearly solid blue EE chick in my order from Cackle, and she's feathered out mostly buff! But I'd say the chances your baby will have some form of lavender or light blue on it are quite good. :D I do hope you'll keep us updated! :love

I will! I'm seeing some photos from hatcheries on my online searches and have seen several cochin pics that look VERY similar in color to mine. So far I have seen partridge, buff, calico and even a wheaton. It'll be really fun to see how mine turns out. I really wanted a cochin bantam or a pekin bantam in my "grab"...so I'm just thrilled I got at least one. Hopefully it's a pullet! Don't think neighbors will appreciate a roo even though I'm rural and they all have chickens as well...

Cochins come in a rainbow of lovely colors! So glad you ended up with one. :) I like my red hen very much - such a fireball and sweetie at the same time. ;)

Fingers crossed for a girlie with you! :fl Neighbors are an important consideration.

OK, so it's not quite 8 weeks (new pics are 5 & 6 weeks) but the color changes are fun to see. #4 is the most aggressive and is currently in time out LOL!...am still hoping a pullet but starting to look more like a roo...# 3 is the biggest baby but very sweet...not so sure this one is a roo...starting to look like it could be a pullet...time will tell as I know the brahma's tend to be the slowest developers.

#1 - 5 weeks, pullet. EE - color TBD - feathering out with peach/buff splashes
#2 - 6 weeks, pullet. EE - color TBD but looking very dark
#3 - 6 weeks, roo? Light Brahma
#4 - 6 weeks, roo? Cochin - Partridge or Calico? - feathering out with lots of colors so far.

Any opinions/weigh-ins welcome! I'll post new picks in a few more weeks.

Any comments on updated pics I posted a couple of days ago?

My goodness, how they've grown! :love And just as gorgeous as one could hope for.

#1. EE, so far pullet. I don't believe there are any specific color varieties with names for Easter Eggers. :)
#2. EE, also nothing screaming cockerel.
#3. Light Brahma could potentially be a cockerel. They're very slow developers, as you know. ;)
#4. I do believe you have an attractive cockerel on your hands! Still not positive about his color variety, though I think Partridge is more likely due to lack of spangling in the chest area. :D

Yeah, #4 is going to be beautiful...his comb is a little pinker every day and his waddles are looking VERY bright (already a week older than the posted pics)...and he's more and more aggressive every day. I'm going to wait for him to start crowing before I contemplate re-homing...I like the idea of a "guard chicken" if he's not too noisy (my aunt or cousins will take him). I was super excited to get a cochin out of the bunch and am bummed he's looking like a roo. They all moved out to the "big house" yesterday so they have plenty of space but he still runs everyone to ground. He even charges my other 5 hens that are all a month older and regular sized LOL! They are always startled at first then they come back and put him in his place...lil' bugger. :lau They are super fun! Thanks for taking the time to respond, Alex.

Well, It's been awhile since I've updated how this all turned out.
#1 - COCKERAL, EE - color TBD - feathering out with peach/buff splashes, Feathered out beautiful but with lots of red on neck and torso...had to re-home.
#2 - PULLET, EE - color, black w/ white and tan speckling
#3 - PULLET (Thank God!), Light Brahma
#4 - COCKERAL ,Cochin - The sweetest and prettiest of the lot but had to re-home him.

#1 was a week younger than the others and started crowing almost as soon as the red feathers started appearing. #4 took awhile to start crowing and his crow was really soft for the first month...then he started getting louder and I had to move him out...so sad.

#3 is very sweet and the broodiest in my bunch of 7!
