Bantam Cochins.. Any hope for a cockerel?

I will have to order the very expensive sexed bantams and then pray a lot.

Maybe waiting til next year won't be so bad. Your girls will be grown and able to keep a cockerel in line.

Well I hope you get all hens next time! I would have gotten sexed ones but the guy said he couldn't sex this breed. At least I got 5 beautiful pullets! I hate to add a cockerel now as we are all good friends here... but I might try if I can find a hand raised youngster. I wanted a cock-a-doodle-do or two! Love that sound & he was going to be main man for the big girls too. :) First experience with cochins & they are the sweetest little chickens ...& my favorites so far!

Did you wash and give the girls a blow out before taking their pictures? ;) They look gorgeous!

Hahaha... thank you! They sure are little cuties. #5 has the fluffiest legs ever... so fluffy that they are wider than her body & her body is Super Fluff!! You ought to see her run. I will never tire of the sight.. lol! :love

ONE thing to stress - do NOT breed your frizzles to another frizzle, result will be birds with broken off brittle feather and /or bald areas. Breed to normal feathered roosters

Thank you so much for your advice! I had heard that but am still learning. I don't think I want to breed to get chicks... I just love roosters & wanted one! If I do add one, I will get a smooth rooster in case I change my mind or we have an accident hatch or you know.. the chicken math thing! I mainly want one for the experience & the crow... love that part! :)
Thanks again for your reply!

Best rooster I ever had was a little red accident. He had a really interesting crow too, very sing song like.

I do hope you choose to get a lil fella next year.

I might even adopt a little feller this fall that someone doesn't want!
Was your little red accident a cochin? I really do love roosters too. :)

I love my Bantam roosters! The two littlest guys let me carry them, fly up to me, follow me.... they are adorable! And the now middle guy use to do that too. He's growing up so he's not so much into being coddled and chasing me for attn. He hangs with the older guys. And then there's the oldest Bantam. There's no way he'd let me coddle him, but he definitely listens well to what I say. The first time he didn't, I picked him up and held him. No problems since. To be fair, he was still adjusting to being here. :)
