This cockerel is 3/4 bantam Cochin 1/4 brahma bantam. His father was blue with some leakage in his hackles

That's the one that you thought might be bobtail color? I'd still love to figure out how to make bobtail, but your girl sure is lovely!

Found a home for my crow-babies yesterday, and through the magic of Craigslist it turned out to be the same young family who took some birds a month ago for a 4H project. At least they won't immediately become soup.

My little baby Cochins are getting cuter by the day, even though my Frizzle red seems pretty smooth to me.

Adorable babies!!! And BEAUTIFUL colors! I agree! My frizzle baby showed frizzle feathers early on....but I do love the color!

Butchered a couple of my extra bantam Cochins yesterday. These two were judged too small to bother with (yeah, yeah, I know, they all were small enough it wasn't REALLY worth it!). Anyway, so I just let them loose in the yard to free range. We had storms forecast for overnight so I put them in the brooder shed. I figured there was a divider so they couldn't get into trouble or bother the other birds. Right... I forgot I was dealing with bantys. Not even two minutes later, they flew over the divider and started fighting with my other standard size Buckeye roosters (same age, but lots bigger!). It was pretty funny to watch because the banty kept dodging under the legs of the Buckeye. I couldn't believe a little bird was taking on such a big rooster. No wonder they are called cockerels, they certainly are cocky!
