I have a similar small coop that I use to grow out babies. With your additional run, 5 bantams should be fine in there!I have four 11 week old chickens 3 are bantam Cochin/ silkie mixes, one a sebright/ bantam Cochin mix and one silkie. 2 pullets and 2 cockerels. I really should only keep one cockerel since we live in a neighborhood but Im having a hard time deciding to rehome him. I'm for sure going to get another pullet, probably a silkie so mine has a friend. I'd like to keep my four and add a 5th just not sure if I have the space in my coop. My coop is pretty tiny only 40"x 40" but they all sleep huddled together in a corner or one of the 3 nesting boxes. The run is 3.5'x12' and then we fenced in a 21'x18' area that I let them roam in for a few hours a day when I'm home. Do you think since they are all small breeds 5 will to too many in the small coop? Advice please!![]()

Pretty!
@speckledhen so sorry about your babies. My oldest are just almost 2 years old, so I have no idea how long they normally live.![]()
Xander is stunning! I hope he improves.
My oldest bantam cochin rooster is currently 6. I haven't had any of them make it older than that, but that boy is still kicking and is top rooster of the bantam flock. Most seem to pass between 4-6. I haven't yet had any really old rooster, my 3 d'uccle are 7 this year, 2 are looking worn out though. My roosters are living longer not eating layer ration.Hey, all. I used to have a lavender Cochin bantam hen who passed away at 4 1/2, not sure why. I currently have a black rooster who is showing signs of possible heart failure and I believe he's only 3 years old. He's never lived with bantams, keeps the big girls in his group in line, been a wonderful little Munchkin Dictator. But, I've never seen anyone with an older bantam Cochin rooster, though, admittedly, I don't frequent bantam discussions. Anyone here have an older one? I hate to lose our Xander, such a good little guy he's been.Shadow, being warmed up on a very cold day.
