BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I got one "bantam" cochin with 10 other various chicks at the feed store earlier this month. The chicks are now roughly 4 weeks old but the "bantam" cochin is fully as big as the Easter Egger, SLW, Aand Brahma chicks and truly almost as big as the "giant" cochin that appeared to be at least a few days older than most of them when I picked them up. Am I right to suspect that she is not really a bantam....she is at least 5 oz bigger than the d'Uccle rooster that I suspect is also older as he is the most fully feathered of them all.

That is what I suspected but thanks for confirming. I was really wanting her to keep the bantam Polish and d'Uccle company but she is easily 2x as big as the polish and kind of a pushy butt. At least she is pretty. I would have bought her had they had a "standard" cochin bin with her in it but they only had "bantam" and "giant" . I hope the bantam Polish can hold their own with what is possibly 14 standard and bigger birds.....

BTW, a bantam only requires 1 square foot of coop space per bird and 4 square feet of run space, while standards need 2 square feet of coop and 8-10 square feet of run space. So in the coop, they are technically half a chicken, and in the run even less!

Yeah, I have a run that is over 200 sf and a coop that is only 32 sf but it has a raised poop board that adds another 20 feet of useable floor space with currently 17 feet of roosts that are getting revamped to add some more footage before the new babies get moved out. The run currently has a solid roof on 1/3 of it and the husband is adding 2 more panels to cover it almost entirely so even though the coop is a tad tight, the current chickens spend a lot of time under teh roofed coop even if it is snowing and raining because they have the luxury of cover. I am going to watch the polish close and build them 3 panic rooms to see if that gets them enough safety. If not I will be sectioning off a piece of the coop and making a little run off the other side for them and the d'Uccle to live in.

I have a blue Cochin bantam rooster that will be for sale. He's scared of humans, that's why I'm selling him.

His name is Huckleberry. I have some eggs but I've never shipped and They will probably be some sort of Cochin/brahma mix bantam

Anyone in Minnesota/Iowa that wants him?

Ok, I posted this on the em emergency page and nobody really responded. I have a chick Who has been the same way for the last week. He will eat and drink and run around a little bit but is not as active as my others. He has to often take breaks seems like he is napping and gasping for breath. I did some research and it sounds like subcutaneous Emphysema but I do not see a air sac swollen anywhere. He makes a crackling noises when he breathes. Any ideas. I keep thinking he was going to die but he hasn't any idea on if he'll outgrow this. Also I worry about his slightly curved beak
