I have a little Banty rooster named Johnny cash. He is about 7 months old. Did not vaccinate him at birth because I ran out of merecks vaccine. He was perfect until about two months ago we noticed he was walking funny, like a soldier. The leg has steadily gotten bad. He now holds it behind him. He literally can not walk now. My husband thinks we should put him down , because of his quality of life. I hope there is something to be done. He does not have curled toes, the leg does not look broken. I have sprayed it twice a day with Banixx. Also gave him vitamins rooster booster and poultry cell. I wrapped his ankles with horse tape, and then wrapped a piece to hold his legs closer together today.

Any advice would be helpful.

You might make him a chicken sling...

I'm with hubbs on this one, I would put him down if he hasn't gotten any better and actually declined. Not just for quality of life, but also because if it wasn't Marek's then I wouldn't want his genetics possibly breeding forward in my flock.

Sorry you face this. :( Have you tried any vitamin therapy? :fl

I agree...him being that old chances are it could possibly be Marek's and better to be safe than sorry....

U may keep trying to rehabilitate him while it spreads to the rest of ur flock and then u will have to put them down as well...
