We were all foraging around in a field later that morning. "Haha, BURN, Lena! My dragonfly is SO bigger than yours," Micia declared. "Uhm, NO, it isn't!" Lena glared at Micia. "Girls..." Jae protested. It all made me laugh. Here we were, lost in the wild, and our biggest worry was who's dragonfly was bigger? I think we had some growing up to do... "Whoo! It's so hot today!" I flopped down in a big patch of grass, and fluffed out my frizzle feathers. "Why are you sitting in the sun then, Essie?" Jae laughed. I laughed, closed my eyes, and turned my head to face the sky. It was beautiful today. "Mmmm..." I sighed.
All of the sudden, out of no where, a small, frantic cheeping sound started up. Caly's head snapped up. The food girl had always made a big fuss over how she'd be a great mother. I lifted my head, sleepily, and tried to run the slight spots out of my vision, but it didn't work that well.
I was trying to follow Caly when I heard her scream. Then I heard a sickening thud.
