Ok I'm checking with my expert team of biological scientists.
A co-worker of my husband told him that we did not have to worry about snakes around our chicken coop/run. Flock shares a pasture and their run is within same area of Barbado sheep. He said snakes would stay away from poop because they don't like the smell (well, ya).
Is this true? If it is, I'm going to start bagging it and selling as deterrent!
I have mesquite and wild persimmon trees and have actually seen a snake skin high in some branches so I'm not convinced.
