my barnies from Trisha went into lockdown on Sunday night. I have 12 viable eggs!! But, I'm concerned, because one of them got incubated poiny-side down.

I couldn't tell because it was so round, and couldn't see the air cell at first. Then, I couldn't tell because both ends had light areas. Now that it's fully developed, I can see it was upside down.

I decided to lay it on its side in the bator. I thought that it had probably developed upside down, so would be in trouble if either end was up. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I've got 17 eggs under a big, fluffy, broody F1 blue hen that were set last week. It's her first time being broody but she's doing a good, job

About 1/2 are pure barnies from my favorite hens and the the other half are from my favorite two "cornevevlders". Several of the eggs are from this girl. She's has a bit of dark cornish in her with 3 crosses back to pure Barnevelder roos.

I hope her chicks grow up to look as good as she is

I think she's just about perfect except for maybe just a little better "sweep" or cushion to her tail set. You can just see the tail set of a pure "showtype" barnie hen behind her. She still has a bit of growing to do, so she might look better next year.

I'm thinking of pairing her up with my blue cockerel or one of his brothers (if I get any better than him) in the fall. He's moulting into his big boy feathers and is looking a bit gawky. Boy is he getting big and he's already taller than my pure roos!

Here are some pics of one of the chicks I have hatched from my parent birds that I posted pics of on here a few days ago. The pics are a front and side view of the chick, who is about 2 weeks old in this pic.
