Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Hi Fellow Barnevelder lovers!
I have had Barnevelders for 4 years now. I don't check in with Backyard Chickens very often, I find it pretty overwhelming. Andy clued me in that there was a nice thread, so here I am! I got my start from Farmer Johan in 2009. I also got a few Barnies from Peace of Thyme, including one Kelly Cratty. Every year since then I have gotten one or two new Barnies from Farmer Johan. Last summer I sadly got my last 2 roosters from his widow Barbara. She told me that this year she has decided not to continue breeding them and to let what she has left live out their natural lives.
I never had chickens before I got my Barnevelders, but I love them and feel so fortunate to have chosen Barnevelders as my introductory breed, what dumb luck!

I have pictures of my Barnies on my website:

Hi Donna,
Nice to hear from you:)

Hi Donna

Glad to see you here on the BYC Barnie site, I love your website, you have some great pictures there and some very nice looking Barnies and Marans. I really love the lacing on your KC hen, I wish I hadn't lost the two pullets I hatched from her (bobcat) the picture reminded me about her.

I was going to send you a recent egg picture but since you are here now I will put it up here. This is my last setting with darkest in the left upper and lightest in lower right, I have some lighter eggs but don't usually set them, I have a 1/4 KC hen that lays very pale speckled eggs, but they are jumbo sized which is nice, I want to hatch some of hers and try to capture her nice lacing.

Andy

Your blues look great! I'm still slowly plugging away at it. Did you make a splash hen yet? Our Barnie yahoo group has pretty much dissolved I guess.

That is where I recognize your name

That's a beautiful brown one! I still have my KC hen, she is 4 this year but still laying. I have a daughter from her (the one that hatched in the trash can!,wow, I'm a bad mommy). Anyway, she is half Johan and lays Jumbo eggs with pretty good brown color, but the eggs have those funny lines on them that make them look a little scary sometimes.
