Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

HOW DO I UNSUBSCRIBE?
I can't find that button.

Hover over the thread you want to unsubscribe to on your subscriptions page. You will see a star. Hover over the star and an "x" will appear. Click on the "x" and you are unsubscribed.

I found that out by accident one time and used the feature to clean up my subscriptions page. Hope that helps...sorry to see anyone leave this thread though...our barnies need all of us...

WOW,

Really,,, I thought I had found another breed that had some great qualities that interested me alot. I've been watching/reading from afar,, hoping find to who's got what and decide if I wanted to go further and explore more.

Seems to be a breed that's hard to come by,,, at least in my limited exopsure to them.

Hope things get worked out here, and most of you keep the thread alive !

Rachel dont get your comment???? I am showing my fossil rock Barnevelders
I have tried to get others interested in them
I talk to people at show interested in them
Are you showing??? Most of the enthusiasts left this thread thinking it was dominated by west coast people who arent interested in showing!!! As far as i can determine my stock is 100percent Barnevelder no mixing for size etc. i am interested in participating to improve the breed! Not for ribbons prizes!!! Rare beautiful kind Dutch chickens

I never said your birds weren't 100% Barevelder, not sure what you mean by that. I have nothing but high respect for Donna also, she is doing a GREAT job. I also don't understand why a person not interested in showing would cause others to leave a thread. Lots of VERY reputable breeders of all sorts of breeds never go to a show. I did not learn about Barnie from a show, it was actually from Wiki

, maybe not the best place to start but that is where I first learned about them.

I am sorry that I stirred things up and caused new comers to leave. This is a great bird and could use more people being enthusiastic about it!

interesting thing...I have had Mareks in my flock for about a year and have lost none of my Barnevelders to it. not a single one. Other breeds, yes. but not the Barnevelders. mine don't seem especially susceptible (knock wood)

Hi everyone
My first post . Hope for some feed back on one of six pullets, this one at 10 weeks is showing a little different lacing in the breast feathering , a keeper ? The other are 5 Barnevelders type ,
Many thanks
Ray
That doesn't look right, but she is still young. Unless you're tight on space, I would keep her for a while and see what happens.

I got my first Barnevelder egg today! My pullet had been staking out the nest boxes for a week and finally laid her egg...in the dirt, of course! She is one of my two traditional black barnies. I'm going to post a couple of pictures of my blues soon...
