Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Pics
I have read on this thread over the past that if your Barnies hatch out looking like Welsummers with the V on their head that this is a quality problem.

I have a nice flock of Barnies with great egg color. Mine hatch out all brown and brownish red like little chipmuncks.

I hatched a batch from someone else to be able to get some new blood in my flock. These are also nice looking birds - a little lighter egg. The chicks look very much like Welsummers with the V and much lighter than my Barnies.

Thoughts?

Hello fellow Barnevelder lovers!!

Well I'm new to BYC. I have had barred rocks for about 2 years and really enjoyed them. I have recently deciced to get a little more serious about my chickens. I have decided that I want a new breed. After weeks of reasearch I have decided on, yes, the Barnevelder. I'm so excited. I look at pictures of them all the time. I am graciously on a waiting list from Johan.
I just wanted to say Hello and I'm sure this thread will be a new "home" to me.
I'll be talking to you all often and soon

I thought it was odd that you were saying you needed a GFM when your name was already in gold!

Well, now that I have more picture storage space thanks to the GFM. I can share some more pics:)

The sun came out today and I wanted to take some pictures of some of my F3 cornevelder project pullets. They looking really nice, but still need some work on their head shape and tail set. They are about 5 months old.

#83 has the heaviest body that I like. She still needs a higher tail set and rounder head, but so far what do you think?

#81 has a higher tail set and fuller tail (fan like) that is more to type, she also needs a bit rounder of head and shorter beak.

My Johan/vB roo that I got from a fellow breeder in NY. He's young and still filling out. I like his tail set and the fact he doesn't show alot of white fluff. He's a bit too red in the hackles and saddle, but that may mean he will breed good pullets as my hens are pretty dark. He and his brother have had a few scuffles so his comb is a bit messed up.

Very, very nice birds, Trish. How far you from here?

BTW, does anybody here know where I can get hatching eggs for bantam barnevelders? A friend of mine had a pair but got cocci in her flock & the cockerel died. They were the cutest things... would love to have my own. She still has the pullet, but I have not been able to pry it from her hands just yet.... hehehe...
