Yeah, he was stretching himself out as much as possible. No denying the cockeral stance!

But if that's the way to sex them, then I have a whole bunch of cockerals.

I still can't see any differences in combs, so I'm not sure yet. These are tricky to sex! I already have my wellies figured out.

He has better coloring, comb, and size than the rest of his brothers. By four weeks or so you should really start seeing differences in comb and even a bit in coloring. Oh, I hatched out 9 more from the blue project about a week ago and it looks like I only got 3 blues

out of the bunch. Good thing I have another lot of project eggs in the bator. It looks like I may have to hatch out about 100 chicks just to get the few "proper" colored ones I need for this generation of the project.

Thanks for the feedback on my Barnevelders, Half of them are 13 weeks and the other half are 11 weeks.
I originally paid $20.00 for the 8 of them as chicks, so getting at least one decent pair out of them would be great.
I need to order more eggs or chicks though, I was thinking about Gabbard farms. Has anyone here had any experience with their barnies ?

True, but it does me no good if I have no females! I need both! I'll be very happy if I get a really nice cockeral and a few really nice pullets to go with him.

Sorry you didn't get many blues. I just love blue chickens. And I know you wanted them for your project. Hope you have better luck with the next hatch!

I am wondering.. can e+ be hidden by eb down? Eg. An e+ eb chick can it look like/close to an eb eb chick?

I have some very 'work in progress' lines and am finding shaftiness showing up in chicks that look eb as chicks and just trying to work out where this comes from..

I have noticed light coloured eyebrow lines (I think that is best way to describe them!) in some chicks that turn out to be shaftier..

THE SUN IS BACK!!!!!

I thought it was gone forever, but with temps nearing 80 is seems like spring is finally here

I thought I'd take some pictures with the sun being so bright, but the girls weren't cooperating, but here are some pictures of my two of my best cornevelder project pullets. They are looking better every day I think I'm going to be getting some eggs from them soon. Now if only they would hold still for the camera, LOL.

The chicks from my last hatch are growing nicely in my new brooder. Only 4 blues and 3 look like cockerels, but oh well, I have more in the bator. Pictured are Barnies, cornevelders and blues.
