I can't really see the breast down, but it kind of looks darker could be a pullet

Oh! I didn't know they could be sexed at this age? Here are some pics from the front (it didn't want to cooperate with me taking these!) So can you tell?

I still think you've got a girl. Although she's not from my birds, I almost never see boys with breast down that is as dark as that. So odds are it's a girl.

Edited to add: I've posted this photo before, but it's a good one to show clear breast down differences in day old chicks. I say it's not a 100%, but I find that is around 80%-90% accurate with my birds if I have a larger group of chicks to compare individuals to.

I am pretty sure I will get laced boys without columbian as the blue rooster i used cant have had columbian i do not think, but even if he had one he was mated to a hen who had a non-columbian restricted breast and out of 20 odd males from that pair all were laced. I do quite like the lacing on the boys but it does make things more difficult. Also i have some that have next to no colour on their breast when they first feather out but in their next 'coat' they feather out lacing. I was hoping that meant no columbian too..
Here are my 4 (ones hiding) oldest boys to be used as next years breeding roos. The black one has a mother from a different line, I am pretty sure the blue and the black one are missing a Ml or Pg or both, and the splash boy looks heaps better but still could be missing some. I had another splash roo but culled him as he had very thin lacing- I think missing Ml?
Not the best pic but it is better than a blurry one lol

The effect of columbian is easier to see in the females because they won't be double laced if they have a copy. I would prefer to work with pullets/hens, but I only have maybe 3 pullets to work with after hatching over a 100 "blue" chicks this year

Statistics wasn't my friend as I got way more blue cockerels than pullets. I ended up with lots of "black laced" pullets out of the blue project and sold most as layers/crossbreeds. But, I'm keeping a few of the best "black laced" to see how their lacing looks when grown.

The same thing happened to me! I had like 70% boys and mostly black girls, any blue girls were very badly patterened and the black ones had great promise! grr. Also out of about 60individuals I was meant to get 25% splash laced- all i got was 5 cockerels! And I lost the blue roo so could not keep trying for pullets! I really wanted some splash laced girls just to look at even if their patterening was not good enough:D
So I kept the oldest splash roo with a blue hen and got the 4 late hatched ones. Was meant to get a few more than that of blue and splash but I think then hen jumped the fence a few to many times

If I have the motivation come breeding time I will individually test each rooster to confirm the presence or absence of any columbian, I have a very nicely patterened hen that has great double lacing all over so will mate to her to test.

re; Double lacing on shoulders when they first feather out- this is one I thought at the time looked very interesting so i got photos of him, he has that double is look on shoulders and on his front. He was pictured above as adult and is the black laced boy on the left of 3 roos.

he is from either my very best patterened hen or her not as great sister, but her sister i think was eb e+, he didnt have e+ chick down though

I started a thread on another forum about it and didnt get too far..

here is a pic of his chest about 2 months ago to show the pattern on the feathers, didn't change that much from the 6week old pic.
