Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Okay seems I can not count, there are 9 Trisha babies not 10. Not sure how I did that. Here are pics

They don't stay still. The 9th one is still not pic ready, but chest is looking pretty dark, so at least 2 girls, I am seeing a lot of white though. Either way I am super excited!!! The feather test works at 1 week right? will post more pics then. Also, my incubator just quit on me, maybe that was the reason for temp issues. Went to check on them and the temp was down to 92 and the light was not on even though it was plugged in. So I pulled them early and put them under a heat lamp, with the littlest (#9) in a box with a thermometer so I can make sure it does not over heat.

One with butt facing us is the little girl from the first pic.

Hi Barnevelder Peeps!

I just posted this stuff on my Northern California thread and thought I'd share here! Started out with 5 chicks 2 weeks ago and 3 of them died pretty quickly. I sent one in for a Necropsy and I am waiting for the results. The remaining 2 I took pictures of today!:

My Barnevelder chicks are three weeks old today! Although 3 of my 5 died all in a row, these two guys seem to be hanging in there.

I think this little one is a boy:

This one, I think, is my one remaining girl:

Here are my two dogs, Wilson and Gia, meeting the chicks for the first time. Look suspicious?! We will definitely be keeping an eye on those two!:

The one to the far left in the first pic might be a girl too

. Hopefully you'll get your trio and be able to pick the best cockerel from the boys:)

Trisha

Yep, I think there are at least 3 little girls, which I would be so happy with!!! My hatch last year had 2 girls and 6 boys, so 3 and 6 this time would be better

Glad everyone's having successful hatches

I just wanted to share some pictures of my growing Bantam Barnevelders. They are almost 6 months old and I'm itching for some eggs to hatch! Breeders, please tell me what you think of their color and conformation. I'm hoping they're SQ, but if they aren't I'll love them anyway

I just hatched some barnie chicks, they hatched on 5/17-5/18, 7 cute little chipmunk looking fuzzies! Is there an easy/obvious way to tell the boys from the girls at this age? I can post pics tmrw if that helps.
Thanks!

Ten days ago I hatched out my first barnevelders from mail order eggs (got 11 out of 30) and I have a question. How old will they be before the double lace feathers start to come in? Thanks.

I got a silly Question. Do Barnies have any hairs/feathers on the legs at all? After all this time, now I have found one in my flock of 6 barnevelders, I have no idea, but I'll never buy anymore chicks off of a so called "Breeder"
