We finally got rain
and a lot of it. Which is very odd for TX at this time of the year. However, an unfortunate side effect is the baby chicks house was saturated nasty dirty, with about 3 days solid of rain. So today I went out and clean out the other larger brooder (that was oddly pretty dry) put new hay down, then moved over all the wet and muddy (stinky) little chicks (10 weeks) to the dry pen. All of this while I am at home sick with bronchitis
What we do for our babies.
On a side note, I had a feeling a few weeks back, but during the move today I am 99% positive that out of the 8 Trisha babies I have 2 are roos and 6 are pullets
When she sent the eggs, I said please only send 2 rooster eggs and she did
. The chicks were so happy to be warm and dry, rolled in the hay like there was no tomorrow. Now I have to think of a better way to keep the first coop dry, it has never gotten like before. My only fear is that the other coop is not 100% predator proof. So I doubt I will sleep good tonight, both with worry and a body wracking cough.
