Nice summer shower this a.m. Cooled everything down a bit. Grandson won Best of Show! He exhibited a bantum white leghorn rooster. Long tail feathers. We washed him with a horse shampoo until he sparkled. He is a beauty and he knows it! Aya

Marans have single combs, correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like pea comb-ish, lol

Hi there, I am located in Wisconsin and I am on a desperate search for some one in Wisconsin/Eastern Minnesota, who has these beautiful birds available. I am looking for the line that is directly from the birds Johan from Hidden Medow Farm. I only want the true dutch barnevelder. If anyone can help me that would be great. We are a heritage farm and strive for only heritage breeds of anything. We would love to have a hand in preserving this breed.

I sold some eggs to a couple from Plover last year. I am not sure how they did, but if you have trouble finding Barnies I could look up the address and pass it on to you.

I gave my two Barnevelders back to the breeder today! I'm so glad I didn't have to cull them. Thank you all for your wisdom and support! I guess I'm not a member of the BV club anymore.. but I still want this breed again one day Happy Saturday!

I have some eggs hatching right now and so far 2 chicks are splash!!! 5 have hatched (no idea if any are blue yet) and there's 1 pipped and 3 more to go. I'll post some pics after the chicks fluff up

Here's the 2 splash chicks and 3 of the other chicks.There's still a few eggs to go maybe I'll get another splash

Wonder if they are girls or boys? Obviously the 2 chicks behind them are boys

These splash chicks are darker and more "barnie" like in color than my first splash chick. That chick didn't turn out to be double laced because it's mother had Co in her (2nd gen hen). These are 3rd x4th generation blue and should be double laced.

edited to add: They are a bit small because they are from "pullet" eggs. But, hopefully they will grow well. I had a pullet that outgrew all her hatch mates this year and she was from a small "pullet" egg, LOL.
