Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

I added on to my 2 level brooder and made it a 3 level brooder. I did most of the bottom half by myself, but DH is going to redo the bottom door ( I didn't cut it straight lol). The bottom level is going to make it much easier to manage a broody hen with chicks.


Some pics of one of my best blue pullets (overall) for this year. Can't wait to see if her egg color is decent.







Another blue pullet, with not as good lacing, but still pretty good at this point.

I've been wondering this too, one of my pullets has lacing even on her neck!

The standard does say black hackles, but I think I read somewhere that the hackles should show some lacing too. With good lacing on her body like that, I wouldn't be too upset having a little bit of extra red in the hackles. Just find a roo with darker hackles to cross with her.
