Males of Barnevelders have some penciling (lacing) as well. And I think the penciling is faint but developing.
How old are they? These are my only 2 Barnevelders. They have been slow to develop and I thought I thought I had 2 hens. In the pic of two, I am questioning the one on the right. As of last night I think I have a hen and a roo! Please take a look and let me know.Thank you!
I don't think it is a purebred Barnevelder. It's comb isn't right. Maybe a Barnevelder/blue laced Wyandotte cross or maybe Barnevelder/Easter egger. Knowing its age would help determine sex.I feel silly - he is SO CLEARLY a roo.. lol..
but honestly two days ago I could not tell!
And I think the penciling is faint but developing.
Thank you for your kind replies..
You nailed it Jed, he ain't pure bredI don't think it is a purebred Barnevelder. It's comb isn't right. Maybe a Barnevelder/blue laced Wyandotte cross or maybe Barnevelder/Easter egger. Knowing its age would help determine sex.
No, and it is a shame. I'm sure the bird was sold as a Barnevelder, so it is probably another case of a unscrupulous seller duping a customer. And that makes it tougher on all of us who sell birds because buyers are suspicious, and rightly so.You nailed it Jed, he ain't pure bred
