Well its a common mistake, I think I've said the same thing before becuase I couldnt think of the word "tufts" at the time and I think I put muffs instead of tufts. But pigfarmer said the fathers were Ameraucanas, (nothing was said about Araucanas) in the first post so it should be inferred anyway that the offspring have muffs or beards as I prefer to call it.

FOUND A PIC OF MY OLD COCKEREL.

HE IS A CUCKOO ARAUCANA COCKEREL. DOUBBLE TUFFS, & RUMPLESS.

HE WAS HATCHED IN 2004.

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING MORE.

PIC IS NOT THAT GREAT THOUGH,

Josh, i see the tufts on that bird..nice

Just like the hatchery birds..most call muffs-tufts.. but they are all wrong..
Ive had many come here telling me they have araucana too..but in fact they have ee's with beards and muffs. once you see a tuft in person you will never mistake it again for a muff..
plain and simple once you id a bird with them.. i always correct folks when they make the wrong assumption on muffs vs tufts because i breed araucana, its something that always seems to need clarification for some....

Yep, there are certain things like that, that I am picky about too, like I hate when people call my Barred Rocks , " Dominekers" .

And I've had the same problem with the EE, Ameraucana, Araucana thing, I was selling some EEs on time and the man was looking at them and said they were Ameracuanas, and I told him no that Ameraucanas come in specific pure colors and the EEs were mixed colors and he said No, it was the Araucanas that came in the specific colors, and I just didnt feel like argueing with him all day, so I just shut up and let him by my "Ameraucanas".

WOW I was glad to find this thread. I was going to start another one to ask a similar question. I bought a dozen hatching eggs at the auction marked EE / BR. They all hatched. I have had a bunch of cute babies running around for the last 5-6 weeks. I noticed a few days ago that there are only two that have BR markings. One of them has a beard! It is very adorable. Funny enough, one of the chicks ended up with 5 toes, and is coal black and has a mohawk going, so obviously not as EE / BR as advertised. Doesn't bother me, just saying. LOVE the pics of the BR's with the muffs/tufts/beards whatever they are being called. Hoping to have similar luck. In the end my goal is eggs, eeeegggzzz, EEEGGGSS so I wouldn't care if they were purple with tomatoes growing outta their beaks if they are good layers they are OK by me. I think I will keep a roo or two (probably my pure Buff Brahma and an EE that is GORGEOUS) to give me chicks with whichever hens go broody. I guess I will end up with a bunch of "yard birds" that lay eggs. I just found the bearded BR to be interesting and was glad to see potential pics when he/she grows up.
