Barred EE's or Araucanas or Ameraucanas

A Genetic Experiment! Attempt to get a Ameraucana that will reproduce itself with Barring.
The Brittish did it with Araucanas but it along with another variety seems to have
actually become extinct over there.

I understand you may have some barred EE's.

Solsken Farm,

Yes I know about the experiment. They stopped because of leg color. Which was a problem because of the barred Genes Of the Barred rocks used.
This perhaps may be overcome however using one of the two other breeds that do not carry that barred gene. Anyway it would be interesting.

Solsken,

Yes I will keep experimenting.
Did you know that in Great Britain Araucanas come in tailed and non tailed. They also have more varieties at least one is now extinct and another may be soon if not already.
I picked up some eggs from a Araucana club of America member, the parent flock are the decendants of original imports from chile. Can't wait to see what the young look like.

Klf73,

Yes! They can have beards and muffs. A chilean freighter crashed off the coast of Scotland (year unknown to me) on board were these Birds. They were called Araucanas. They kept that name for either tailed or not.

I just hatched a batch with a EE roo over BR hens, RIR hens, EE hens. So the three black chicks I got out of the bunch will have to be from my BR hens right?? and if so they would be sexlinked with the barring too??? They are 2 days old and I am dying to see the feathers come in!
