Not everyone agrees but it has worked for me i read barredrock pullets will have more darker legs and feet and

Sexing by barring only works if both parents were barred and it only takes one barred parent to pass along that gene. Judging by the hen raising them, you have a mixed flock?

Hi debid,
The chicks are from a breeder, true barred rocks (I hope!!) The broody hen you see raising them successfully adopted them!! Hooray, clever hen!

It really is too early to tell, but judging by feather growth I'd say Chips is a boy and Nuggets is a girl. Males develop slower.

You're right. Nuggets = cockerel. Chips = pullet.
