Which bird would be more suitable for Central New York / North East, a Barred Plymouth Rock or a Welsummer?

What are the pros and cons of each?

Also, I've noticed that wellies eat like twice as much food as a bird their same size. It's crazy. And BR's tend to be friendlier, and in my opinion, much prettier!

I have to agree, My Welsummers are down to 3 eggs a week already, if that. They started laying at the end of August. They eat allot and do not forage. The Barred Rocks I have had in the past were excellent winter layers and sweeter disposition. Welsummers eggs are extremely dark at first but fade so the color later on is not much different than a Rock's.
