Barred Rock, boy or girl?

This is one of our first chickens. The neighbor thought she heard crowing this week....

That is a BR cockerel, sorry! Have had many of them over the years.

Dang. It's been a really nice bird. My 3 yo calls it "the chicken who smiles."

Most of my BR males have been good boys. Barred Plymouth Rocks are my favorite breed and variety; I also have blue, black and splash Rocks.

Cockerel - sickle feathers starting in the tail, how old/young? ~ he found his voice.

I seem to have lost track...somewhere between 4 and 5 months? I went to bed with this on my mind, and woke up with the sun...and the baby rooster crowing. Sounded like someone was worrying a turkey in my backyard. Dang.
