Looking for barred rock chick experts. I got some barred rock chicks from a feed store. They are one week old. I think I might have a boy. I have looked at many online posts and am not convinced of the sex of either chick, but wanted to check the community. What do you think? All solo pictures are of the chick on the left.

I can’t keep boys where I live so will have to find a new home if that is the case after the other chick is big enough to be with the rest of the flock. I’m raising them to be pet dog chickens.

Thanks.

Barred rock cockerels also tend to get wattles pretty quickly for a large breed variety- watch their cheeks!

Here they are at 5.5 weeks. I’m still unsure and if I have a boy want to start looking for a home for him sooner than later if that is the case. Super nice chick.

I hope so.
If they are pure barred rocks you should be good to go. Males are double barred so they appear more white than black and their bars are obviously defined.
