I have some questions about the breeds of my chicks, which are not as the seller described.
So I had a broody hen, and I decided to give her hatching eggs. Since we don't have a rooster, we ordered a set of 12 eggs on eBay.
The seller's description was as follows: "Assorted mix which consists of Black Star, Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, and Olive Egger".
The eggs came undamaged and after 21 days, our broody hen (an English Orpington) hatched 7 out of 12 eggs.
Out of the eggs hatched, 1 was green and the rest were brown, either speckled or plain brown.
When they hatched, 3 were black, 1 was an olive egger, 2 were RIRs, and the last was unknown.
I immediately assumed that the 3 black ones were black stars, but then I realized that one of the black ones was a lighter color and has feathered feet.
Another one of the chicks (the one identified as unknown) also has feathered feet. I was assuming this was a barred rock because of the item description, but the feathered feet show otherwise.
What breeds are these two chicks? The seller said that they could be mixed breeds.
Thanks for reading!
