It’s only 2 weeks old. But it seems like the everything is saying cockerel already. How old is it? I am leaning towards cockerel, though it may be a pullet.
Thanks for giving me hope! We can’t have roos here so really hoping it’s a hen. I guess I just need to be patient.I'm thinking pullet. Behavior has nothing to do with sex at that age.
My pullet had a large headspot when she was just a chick, & the cockerel I received had a tiny non existent headspot. But he died, along with a few pullets. They were Heritage Barred Plymouth Rocks from Meyer hatchery.Im thinking it’s a cockerel because that head spot is giant, though a comparison picture with the other chicks may prove helpful.
Also looks like a pullet. This is sister.
The autosexing traits of Barred Rocks is not the best, it is only reliable 75 percent of the time. It is okay, but not always right. Exceptions are common. My pullet had a large headspot when she was just a chick, & the cockerel I received had a tiny non existent headspot. But he died, along with a few pullets. They were Heritage Barred Plymouth Rocks from Meyer hatchery.
The cockerel had two leg bands so he'd be identified easily.
