Barred Rock pullet or roo??

I'm in a pickle! I bought Pullets from my local farm store 4 weeks ago and I have a feeling my Colt isn't a she. Hubby says no roosters aloud! And to kill it if its a roo.....

That is NOT a barred rock. But it does look like a cockerel. It's got a comb like a Wyandotte...

Such a beautiful bird to just go and kill. But I've been ordered to kill it.

Hubby is sleeping with the dogs tonight.

Yep, a Wyandotte cockerel. (And the pullets in the background like him aren't BR either -- they're Wyandottes, likely Silver Laced.)

Maybe you could try to find him a different home instead of killing him?

Why not find it a home, and what do you mean that you have been ordered to kill it? Take it back to whomever you bought it from..

It will be quite some time before that chick reaches an age to make any more noise than the pullet chicks. And it's not really going to eat all that much at this stage.

I'd think you'd have plenty of time to try and find it a home.
