Barred Rock--roo or hen?

Quote:
If they are not fighting too bad, and have enough hens to share, no need to separate.

I have two roos and 16 girls. They NEVER fight. I see my younger cockerel fighting with the girls more than the alpha roo

Well I only have 4 girls and I don't think they would be happy having 2 roos in with them. I moved the mixed breed back to the other pen so he is all alone again. I wouldn't mind getting more girls to put with him, but was planning to use that pen for meat chickens again come next year.

He is a pretty bird though and not enough meat to bother eating. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/381388_550187659231_187001936_31036356_1357170334_n.jpg

Is
a picture of him--he is a devil to catch too!

Well hubby told me tonight if I want to get some hens for the roo I can...makes me excited. His only requirement is that they aren't expensive and that they are ready to go outside.

I am guessing that also means come spring he will put up another pen for meat chicks in the fall.
