I have Barred Rock X Eater egger chicks. One little rooster even has the beard. I only want a barred color rooster if it will be attractive. Send me some pics what adult BR X EE rooster look like. Here he is.

I'm really sorry I don't have any pics, but that pullet is one of the prettiest hens I've ever seen! Interesting how the yellow legs are present.

The dark barring is because he only has one barring gene, not two barring genes like a purebred male has. Was the mother barred, or was it the father? If the mother was barred and the father non barred, that is a sexlink. Barred hens can only pass their barring to their male offspring.

If the father was an Easter Egger then it can't be a sex-linked cross, because the genotype would be incorrect. Male birds in a Black Sex-Link cross must be soild colored.

No they don't. It just helps the barring to be more visible if the rooster is solid colored. The hen will still only pass her barring gene to her male chicks. Not the case for this chick anyways, because the rooster was barred, so all the chicks, male and female, could be barred.
The chart in the first post of this thread shows that you can use just about any color rooster for black sexlink as long as it's not barred or dominant white. The important thing that makes it a black sex link is the barred hen.

I have LOTS of barred easter eggers... My roo has 2 barring genes, so all of my chicks from the green eggs are barred. Some have straight comb and some have pea comb. Most of the pea combs have cheeks and muffs.

They're lots of fun, i especially love my barred roo with yellow legs, pea comb, cheeks and muff! He's cool.
