Barred rock x Leghorn?

these are the ones I was given and I also hatched 12 of my own.... All hatched minus 2 brown eggs....Just trying to nail down the barred rock for now as I learn more about each breed.
That makes sense, to try to sort out one or a few at a time. (Of course, the Barred Rock egg could be one of the two that didn't hatch.)

The Leghorn father: was he white? Or some other color?

These were the eggs given to me. 2 brown eggs did not hatch but everything else did. Additionally I added 12 from mine. EE x leghorn and americauna from tractor supply x leghorn. They hatched 10/29 here are some pics of the hatchlings up to recently. Lots of white, splash, grey with orang, grey and a few barred looking. Lots of puffy cheeks 😊
I see at least two barred birds in the picture in that post: one black, one black & red, both with white barring, and both look like males. They both have single combs, so probably come from mothers with single combs (like Barred Rock).

Yes the father is a white leghorn and wow you really have a trained eye. I was just trying to make a short post and assumed one of the 3 "barred" looking birds were the only choice. I have A Lot to learn. Thank you for being patient.
My goal is to get the rainbow egg colors and now I'm starting to learn more about plumage. It seems my roo has a grey gene because I get a lot of Grey babies...i'll save that for the correct thread though. I appreciate the knowledge you share

Yes, that chick could possibly have come from a mother with barring, because barring does not pass from mother to daughter.

I think that color is called "blue," even though it looks gray.

(There are several other chicken genes that can cause a gray appearance, but "blue" is pretty common, and often shows up in chicks of mixed ancestry, so I think that's what this chick is.)

Solid Male over Barred Females produce sex linked offspring.

Male would have headspots, & feather out Barred, Females won't have a headspot, & feather out solid.
Thank you. My EE x leghorn cockerels turn out red/silver. And here's 2 pullets also same parents. With my australorp x leghorn I usually get all black or white with black or grey specks or solid grey.
