I appreciate the comments.
My goal is to bring back the size, our rocks up here are way to small compared to the "Standards"
What I keep hearing up here in my neck of the Woods, Alberta Canada. Is that the Barred Rocks are no where near what they should be in regards to Barring, Size when it comes to Roosters, same goes for the hens. I keep hearing that they are too small, same with the pullets that their barring is not correct and such according to the "Standards"..... remember I am very new to all of this. I would love to get my hands on some of the lines from Jeremy but chances are that will not be for a while yet.
I was under the impression that he was a purebred barred rock, as are his parents and so on. However this particular bird is more of a Mutant, showing recessive genes is he not?
Here is a pic of his brother, hatched the same day from the same parents, a little closer to some of the pics you all have posted but still way off, same age as Paleface, but half his weight.
Runt
Weight: 4.5lbs
Age: 33 weeks or 7.8 months
Poor Runt got fairly bad frostbite on his Comb and wattle, we hit -38ºC or -36.4 ºF for a few days straight and he decided to venture outside.
I got Runt and Paleface from the same place, and I saw the Parents, which looked more correct to what I have seen here, but yet not as Good Looking!
I am thinking that maybe, Paleface is just the Odd one out who is showing some recessive colorations.... <==== Did I get that correct.
Sooo Much to learn.
