too early. In one picture they look gray feathered, in the others black  Would you please post new photos at 8 weeks when they are fully feathered out. Thank you

I've often thought that a white spot on the head of a Barred Rock indicated a high likelihood of being male. Haven't raised many of them tho. :hmm
The white spot on the top of the head indicates that the bird is barred. In black sex link chicks the presence of a spot means male because only the male chicks will be barred. In a breed such as this where both sexes are barred the presence of the spot is not indicative of gender because both sexes have it.
Within lines bred to maintain the characteristic, the shape and size of the spot can sometimes be used to discern gender early on

Thank you all. The one with the smaller head spot, that one's comb is beginning to turn red. I will post more photos in the future. Not sure how old they are. Or if they are even barred rocks.

TSC here got their chicks from Hoovers Hatchery at the time we purchased these. As far as I could tell, they don't have barred rocks available? Maybe they are a mix breed. I don't mind. We just think we have two roosters here. Any input on breed or sex?
