barred rocks, NEVER EVER AGAIN

BB targets XD

Hope you're joking about using them for BB targets. If you don't want them cull them properly and don't torture them.

i was XD

Oh my BR roo is the best!! Wonderful personality, never mean, takes good care of his ladies, and is just so handsome. I guess you just never know though. My guy did originate from lockedhearts BR's so he wasn't from a hatchery.

chickens are like people, there are bad eggs in every group. you cant condemn a whole breed for one little punk.... but i agree, a bad roo should be nowhere near kids

You can't judge a breed by a few birds because an aggressive strain can come out of any breed. I prefer BR roosters for my flock. In fact, BRs are my favorite breed of all. A rooster is a rooster, has nothing to do with the breed.

NO children should be allowed to play around free ranging roosters anyway. That's just life. Would you allow a small child around a bull or stallion without you being right by its side? Of course not! Roosters are in smaller, kid size packages, just the right height for taking out an eye. And children have jerky, sudden movements, which make any rooster nervous for his girls.

This boy is the love of my life, my Zane. Most affectionate rooster I've ever had.

I agree on depends on the birds everyone has told me how sweet their Austrolorps are...mine is a pain in my @$$ cant stand her and she's still a pullet but she is above and beyond that I have a CLW she is also a pain but more managable then my Austro. My SLW sweet as can be now my new wellie well she is got some attitude but sweet for the most part...I've heard from a few people barred rocks can be a pain but I dont own any cant judge...I really like Wyandottes their really mellow from what I've seen and love the eggs guess thats just the thing with chickens trial and error

That is not my experience at all!!!!! My BRs are absolute sweeties.

Now, the silkies I board... horrible, mean, little ugly useless birds. They aren't human agressive but they absolutely torment each other.

The Barred Rocks are great... lay well, docile, BIG meat birds if you see fit.... very good farm breed. I don't know what you are talking about.

I have 3 BR pullets...have been wondering if I need to rehome them because they are pickers...the SLW and one EE can not grow feathers on their back at their tail because they are constantly picking on them. I have to agree with others...they are MEAN...they try to peck all the others even try it with the Alpha Hen but she doesn't take it.
