Mine are pretty darn smart. They've learned how to hunt earthworms. They will actually listen for movement in the ground so they don't waste time digging. They do the same thing to rotting logs. They'll give a few test pecks and then listen for termites and carpenter ants.Dang it, Ethyl makes me want another BR! The SO says no though, because we can only have so many and Amelia (our BR) he says... Is kinda dumb.
She is pretty dumb. She's so food obsessed that she totally misses potential threats like hawks, trucks on the property, stray dogs, etc. But she DOES get every worm, caterpillar, lizard, salamander (!!), earwig, beetle, etc, within kicking distance. She loves laps and affection and she lays all but two days a month.
But she is pretty....dumb![]()
