A question about barred rock crosses for you br experts... I have a batch of chicks, two days old. Out of the 6, two are black with concentrated head spots. Could they be female? The mother is a standard english Wheaton game hen. Dont the daughters get the father's characteristics? I don't know enough about genetics to even pose this question coherently I don't think. Lol I'm just curious and figured I'd ask the pros.
Here is a pic of my cuties. They're two days old. Leg wash on both chicks. Cant see it in the photo but was trying to get a good overhead shot of their head spots. Is this a reliable way to tell with crosses or is it a crap shoot? TIA

Can anyone tell be if this is a PBR? they seem much larger than others I've had. This is a neighbours flock. She was told they were Austrolorps when she bought them as chicks 5 yrs ago What else could they be? The Roo pic is rather bad quality, They're molting and his tail is gone. Remember these are 5 yrs old

and these are chicks I hatched from the barred

Does anyone know why a chicken would just die? She was fine this morning and singin then I checked on her and she was a little slow walkin and then lethargic and then I went to check her again and she was just dead on the coop floor
