What lovely little pullets! I don't have any experience with RIRs, but my two BR pullets, now about 6 months old, weigh in around 5 pounds.
From my experience Barred Rocks are about the same height, but a bit stockier. I would say the Rhode Island red is a slightly more "athletic" chicken than a Barred Rock. If you have enough of either one, though, there will always be a few stockier Rhode Islands and a few leaner Barred Rocks. But in general the Barred Rock will be a bit heavier. My two barred rocks are right at 10 weeks old now, can any of you tell me what their adult size will be like in comparison to a Rhode Island Red? They seem so much smaller than my Rhode Island Reds.
I have seen some BR hens with decent sized combs but something about this one had me questioning. I may be psyching myself out here, but I feel like I see spur bumps starting too?! This chick is 11 weeks old.[/IMG]![]()
