Barred Rocks!!

My barred rock hens had their first snow yesterday and they seem to actually like the cold and the snow. Is this usual?
It seems to take some of them just a little bit of time to adjust, but they still like to be outside. Some will handle it better than others. It was 7 degrees outside where I live when I let them outside this morning and most were still quite ready to come out.

Just wanted to share some photos of my beloved Barred Rocks. They're only two weeks old but growing so fast!

This is my favorite photo of Shadow, my suspected Roo. Today was the first day he managed to fly up to roost on the edge of the brooder by himself, and it was also the first time I've seen him behave like a rooster, challenging one of my Silkies (also a suspected Roo) multiple times with his chest puffed out like he's a total bad boy. He's very tame, but has become more flighty in the past few days and has become very possessive of the other two Barred Rocks (presumably females) and also one of my Silkies (also a suspected female).

Shadow is always curious and seemed more than willing to pose for pictures.

And this is Sky, the sweetest little girl...also 2 weeks old and so polite, calm and snuggly already! The photo doesn't do her justice. She and her sister, Luna, are just beautiful little birds and very friendly.

My dear Nugget is growing fast...way too fast for me!!

*Chuckling* All of the birds in my current flock are camera shy...except my Barred Rock cockerel, Shadow. He LOVES being photographed, so I thought I'd share.
