I have 2 BR's about 10 months old and 9 BO's. I received the BO's when they were about 6 weeks old and we have sort of treated them like pets. We hold them and my kids even kiss them and play with them all the time! We received the BR's when they were 9 month's old. They are some mean hens. We haven't really been able to pick them up. When I put a 4 month old BO rooster in pen with them this weekend, they both attacked him. I just let them duke it out and of course, Junior showed them who was boss!!! Before Junior, the BR's would every once in a while sort of peck at the BO's to let them know they were the dominant hens even though they were put in the coop after the BO's and of course the BO's are still smaller than the BR's. The BO's are now 25 weeks. Can't wait to get 4 eggs in one day now.
I do have to say the BR's are great egg layers. Jenna lays everyday and Luke Skywalker (I know this is a male name but my son is infatuated with Star Wars) lays every other day. Nice big eggs. I only have one BO laying and you can definitely see the size difference.

Our only barred rock is named Lucky! She was the lone survivor of a wild cat attack, we found her hiding in the pump house the next day. A little cold & VERY hungry, but alive.
