The barring isn't gonna effect anything except putting barring on the chicks. And like I said if he has a single barring gene half won't be barred. I would guess since he is a mix breed he probably does only have one gene for it.
You mentioned he wasn't typical black and white barred but had colors. That should make about all his chicks with those hens colorful like you're wanting.
