Battery Hen Thread!

Hey CA folks! Thought I'd share in case anyone can help. They need volunteers, adopters, and fosters.

Ex batt lovers may be interested in story of the ex batt I just found today. Have posted about it in my picture thread :)

Here are some pics of our 2 new gorgeous girls. They are members of the Motley Crüe at present! Very joyous to watch all their firsts - grass, wind, rain, other bird noises (cockatoos, kookaburras, butcherbirds etc.) They are startled but amazed by all these natural things. Both had their first wriggling grub today - what a revelation after only dry pellets all their lives. Too funny to watch! Their most favourite thing is to flop and bask their sparsely-feathered bodies in the winter sun - the very definition of ecstasy.

I have made them a temporary small grass run outside their coop so they can get used to freedom on a smaller scale before giving them full free-ranging rights with our 2 other chooks.

Many thanks to Brisbane's Homesforhens - these hens would now be slaughtered if it wasn't for them. :D

Aww they're lovely!

Hi Jonn

Lovely lady! Her comb is standing up nicely. When she has her new feathers you will have to get her to pose for her glamour shot. :)

Just had a look at your picture thread - wonderful chickens and country you have there.
