Duke grumbled an apology and helped his brother up. 

Digger shook himself off, sending leaves and dirt airborne. "Did you find her?" he asked, his expression grim.

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that," Bem said with mock sorrow. "I'm not leaving until Astrid gives me what I want."

Astrid snorted a bitter, half laugh. "I'm not handing over my pups to you," she told him.

Obi glanced at his brother. A low growl rose in his throat and wanted to attack Bem, but was unsure.

Bem lifted a brow, actually looking genuinely surprised. "Astrid, I'm only take one. Did you think I was taking all of them?"

Astrid stared intently at him, whining very softly. "Please Bem..."

Obi looked towards his uncle for guidance on what to do. If it were him, he would have the pack chase Bem off.
