Oh Jeremy, that's so sad. I'm very sorry to hear that. My heart goes out to your household for your loss. Sometimes they just keel over, and we're not sure what happened or why.
My white cochin went broody last week, and although my husband tried to break her from being broody, it hasn't worked. And she looked so sad when I picked her up last night from the hay shed to place her back in the coop. So this afternoon I got some eggs from my friend, picked up broody cochin, put her in a nest box in the coop, placed the eggs under her. So far, she seems OK with that and didn't get up. We'll monitor what happens ...
Cheryl,
How's your new temp. housing doing?
Jeremy,
See you soon!
Two friends and I went to a local cafe earlier tonight to view a film "Mad City Chickens" about chickens in Madison, Wisconsin. Very nicely made by a small film company. Q/As followed.
Drive safe everyone - it was just pouring rain here a few minutes ago!
So Sorry to hear about Edmund Jeremy. My Black english Orp roo is one of my favorites also. Tough to lose a friendly Roo. Those guys are so big and heavy, I can imagine that might have something to do with it? Again, So Sorry.
