Cheryl I'm having some drama of my own, plus I think I really need to get checked from my accident on Monday, but I want to help somehow. My weekdays I have to take son to and from school, but this is last week before Easter break. Maybe we can all get together and help you sprouce things up even after the initial move. I'd love to help you. Just kind of thought it would be in a week or so and then, Like I said, DRAMA!

Cheryl,

Yes, Kim's got a great idea

Emery High, like West Oakland near the Emeryville border? We are at the other end of Oakland, way out East almost to San Leandro.

I think someone else on this thread mentioned an Oakland chicken tour, it sounds like a fun idea, I won't be able to participate as we keep a closed flock. Biosecurity is a high priority here.

Anyone need some eggs incubated? I have a broody Buff Orpington. She is the *sweetest* broody I've ever heard of. She sat on two eggs all day (hers and one other) and of course, they're unfertilized. So I picked her up tonight and she didn't hiss or squawk or anything. I carried her in to the water and food and she ate. Obviously she was hungry but she'd been a chicken pancake all day.

So, Dh and I are offering her broody services for someone who needs incubated eggs, if there's anyone. Let us know.

ETA: She ate and drank and now she's back on the nest... Cooing. She's so SWEET!

I just put my eggs in lockdown! It's my first time, so I'm pretty excited! I think I have 11 of 14 eggs going strong. I sure hope the humidity has been good enough so far, and that I can behave myself and be truly hands off for the next 4-5 days, come what may.

I also have the two broody Barnevelders sitting on two eggs. I don't know what to expect out there, but had better be ready in case they actually hatch something!

Actually, I had better be ready no matter what. They need their own space to raise chicks. Even if the eggs don't hatch, I will graft some chicks out there. They have worked too hard to end up with nothing.

eta - Thanks, Cheryl, for the leg bands. I hope I end up needing so many that I have to worry about left foot/right foot!
