Bay Area BYCers!

So, could someone bring me up to speed on the upcoming activities of the Bay Area Nutz? I haven't been paying much attention. Too much work, and then I had to send all my precious roos to freezer camp, so I was too sad to hang out here. What is the date for the meetup? November? (Hope so, since my October is completely booked.)

I think I figured out that you all decided on the zoo picnic area. Did anyone start a thread for this meetup? There might be peeps from the northern regions who supported our June Chickenstock in Kelseyville last year who might come. I don't know how many of them keep up with this thread, but they might be interested in coming down. Just a thought.

I used to love the Square, but miss Jack London Village. Seems like it was built and then torn down in no time.

No signs of any other problem. No bumble foot and I had that problem a few years ago with a Polish hen. It was horrible and I didn't even notice it when I bought her.

I just don't know what to do for him. Poor little thing. He's so sweet and so cute, I just want him better. There is nothing other that feeders in that pen and a nest box. I have no idea what he could have done to it.

What kinda Roo is He? Sorry don't want to re read...been too long of a day for that.

Steph I also put the link in the first post of the California thread.

Aw lol those are sweethearts. I had two of my birds get limps on me, My huge brahma roo rather than use the ramp decided to go all rambo and dive from the coop...well his big butt is too heavy and he landed wrong. My wellie, from said roo mounting her. For both of them I used popcicle sticks for the hen, and tongue depressors for the roo and cut them the length I needed, and wrapped them with the ouchless surgical tape, kept them both inside.

I'd wrap up as far as you could to stabilize it...same thing happened with my Wellie hen. Also gave her some yogurt and eggs..protein and calcium .

I also noticed she seemed to do better when i took the pet carrier out with the girls...she got really depressed being inside so much.

I did the same thing when my first HUGE Davis FBCM roo mounted one of my Game hens. She also got really beat up my the FBCM hens and I didn't think she'd make it at all. They peaked her so bad I couldn't figure out where all the blood was coming from and she would just drop and lay down on her side most time. She didn't stand again of about 6 weeks. I didn't wrap anything then though. I can't decide if I let him work it out or interfer. I would however like him to heal and get out. Athough he hasn't crowed since I brought him inside.

Edward is so darn covered in feathers from beak to toe I worry about something being wrapped too tight and push feathers in a way to hurt him more. He tried to walk a while ago and the leg went straight out to the side. When I pick him up he does draw it up with his other leg, but once he's down it goes to the side.

Maybe a dislocation? Is he acting normal other wise. I know if I hurt that bad I might not want to crow..my wellie was unusually quiet as well and she is my motor mouth. It's quite unnerving when things like this happen. I love my D'uccles I had to get rid of them, where I was living at the time I couldn't keep them my mother in law didn't like the noise they made.
