Bay Area BYCers!

Back in the day I dealt with the waste steam of a local City. Some of that waste was considered reuse material. There was at one time a website where folks could list construction materials that they were getting rid of or wanted. There was always redwood fencing, cyclone fencing and fencing panels on there many of it for free. I'll see if I can find it again and post it here.

Okay - I found the one that I was thinking of...although it looks like it has "grown" and isn't soooo grass roots anymore....

And each County generally creates a recycle guide. And at the end they have a pretty extensive listing of resuse centers in the Bay Area. Good source for pallets, fencing, etc.

I'm sure many of you have already found these sites, but they can be a good source of materials. Sorry they didn't appear as a link, but I think I may still be too new to add links... but you can always cut and paste.

I LOVE YOU!!!!! thanks so so much....I'm trying to sell chicks etc to try to afford this, thank goodness the ranch has taken down a lot of fencing so I have wood that I can reuse

The panels I use are Home Depot 6' by 6' each. They come with 2 clamps each & are super easy to put up. I have picked up 10' dog kennels from time to time & mix them in. They are all 6' tall. I stsarted out with just a layer pen & slowly added to it through the years. When I have extra panels I use them on top for the open area & do 6' by 6' corrogated galvanized steele that we build a 6' x 6' frame for. It takes 3 6' steele panels for each. Having done it over the years the recent revamp was more of a reuse of what we already had collected & now just rearranged.
I too watch Craigslist for good deals. I think I am getting close to what I need for when I make my cuts. Everyone will have a nice home if I can settle down & decide on 12 breeds to keep......LOL

You're welcome! Hopefully you can find something worth while! I have purchased or picked up for free building materials from some of these sources and it worked out great.... And I have to admit, I love going into the reuse center and looking around!! A lot of them have some pretty cool items.

I find all kinds of goodies cheap or for free and can't get them to my house. First I don't think I'd do that to my car, but since nothing fits I'm not sure if I would or not.

Cheryl I'm looking for the same thing. I can let you know if I find anything.

I'm going to add the links here ans see what everyone thinks. I found several. About 2 weeks ago I started really looking at the small coops. There are some that I would die for, but I could see most of these done with the peach bins if I added to them. So if anyone sees one they like that's not to complicated, let me know.

Karen if she has more bins available later this month I'd like to try and get another one. Hopefuly I can learn the cuts from you and try the next alone.

OK between Karen and anyone else willing to look, pick your favorite.

Karen I don't expect you to have to do all this work with me. I just want to figure out what I'd have to add and what I'd have to add, to put on together. I've found so many that I just love, but they would take even more work and materials, so these are the ones I've been trying to pick from. I did have just one in mind, but for the life of me I can't remember which it is. Since I can't remember I just figured something nice but simple with some of the goodies from these. I do want an external nest box. That much I know.

So I was able to get a hold of an 8x6 metal shed which will be converted into the new coop. Anna I know has one like it too, I remembered it from when I got the mini coop for her which has been a wonderful broody coop. Anna, if you at all get a chance to post some pictures of it again could you. My girls free range the yard. So they're only in the coop at night and to lay. So I'm going to put some ventilation in, Make some new roosts. Not sure what else will be done yet.
