Hey Cheryl how did your Braden Delaware hatch do??? I have been thinking of them.............. If I don'r cut down on some birds soon I may have to come out of retirement & get a job. My feed bill is a killer & the bigger they grow the more they eat. I have been selling some recently but have a long way to go.......LOL
I unplugged my incubator for the first time since the Stockton show. It was empty after I took the new Sizzles out. I guess I should write to my friend in Arnold & see if she wants me to winter hatch for her again this year. I do soooooooooooo love the hatching .....LOL
I boiled up apot of Quail egg last night to put pickling again. My newly matured Jumbo Browns are going to town laying. Another new excitement......LOL

Well I was pretty disappointed only hatched 5 or 6. Can't remember and I'm on the road right now. Wine tasting at hall wines in Rutherford and then to Cindy's backstreet for lunch. One of my twins is in town already so we r taking him and friend. Rest of the kids come in on Tuesday. First time having everyone home at the same time

Sorry for the poor hatch. I did egg topsies on all my unhatched eggs recently & out of 18 showgirls & a dozen Silver Yokohamas there were only 2 eggs that were anything but plain yolk It look like 2 of the showgirls were developing but were late qyitters. These darned shipped eggs are such a gamble.
It sounds like you are in for a fun holliday seasons. So nice for you to be seeing your kids. Have a great time.

Thanks Karen. I've got 37 basque hen eggs are arriving today. My leghorns started laying so I'm incubating those too. Karen did you on me with what chicks you want

I think I might be having to get rid of a couple of my roos. I don't want to, but I need hens and pullets added and I have just too many. Plus a couple of young cockerels. So, probably one or both of my Olive Eggers

A couple of the Game x Marans who are really pretty and IDK what else I'm trying to let go of. I have a FBCM cockerel I need to make space for and I need a really realy nice Wellie roo. Other than that I need just girls, like Penes and BLP. Always ready for my AMs and FBCMs. I need to think this all out. I love all my roos and I don't want to get rid of any of them, but I need to be able to feed everyone, so better to have less and healthier than stare them through the winter. Something has to give around here darn.

Daphne, I'll talk with Carlos and see if we want to try the King feed next month, we just bought 5 bags of Layena from Concord so we'll be set for awhile. I'll be sure to let you know with plenty of time in advance. Thank you so much for offering to help us out!

I took a few pictures this morning before it started raining.

This is Wilbur, my Blue Coronation Sussex, he's matured into a big handsome guy. We plan on eating him too but I've grown more attached to him than I was with Robin, so I dunno...

I'm starting to see some spur buds growing in on his legs, you can sorta see them in this picture.

Lenore, her feathers are a bit tattered from being in quarantine pen for the past month.
