Faster?! I thought getting it done in an hour was pretty fast.

How long does it take you?

I do have 1 more cockerel to do in a few months, maybe we'll beat our time next go around.

You will definetely get faster with practice Jeremy. I bet if Jules timed herself, from pluck to finish, she could do it in not too many minutes at all. When she showed me how we liesurely sat talking as we did it & it didn't take long at all. I have a tendency to do everything like I am killing snakes, but doing it slowly & with someone else makes it much more pleasurable.

Daphne I hope everything works out, but it's great you have the officer seemingly on your side. Only take one person to destroy the way someone lives. Not fair.

Jeremy, I hope you get a good hatch and lots of short legged babies. I have the pair from Chooklet, the mottleds and I have Lowrider my little black tail buff. She was the only one to hatch and we just love her around here. She doesn think she's a FBCM though. She hangs with the big birds. Since she had been the only one to hatch I had put her in with several other chicks and then lost track of what she was. She's so tiny and low to the ground, I was watching her out with the youngsters and was worry she was hurt because she was so low and waddles. LOL Took some tail feather for me to say "DUH!" One of those made it. LOL I'm going to be getting more eggs when I can. I'm thinking of showing her. Her parents have been shown and her breeder is ompressed with her. I just wish I had a way to take better pics of her. None of my cameras want to work for me and I don't have Bill here to figure them out. I miss 35mm.

Kim, I'm hoping to at least hatch a pair, if I can do that then I've got somewhere to start. I'm still looking for some nice solid Blue Japanese to add the Blue gene to my line...
Why does it seem like whenever you're looking for something that you really want you can't find it anywhere?

Thanks, Kim

... will keep everyone posted on what's next .... I am being next to invisible to the neighbors - no more being nice: just not going out of my way to be neighborly, after living here 29 years.

This is in response to the request for the recipe Judy brought to the gathering in Oakland:

These Parmesan and thyme crackers are the perftct small bite with
a glass of white wine or champagne before dinner.

1/4 pound (I stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
4 ounces freshly grated Parmesan cheese (about I cup)*
I teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves
'/2 teaspoon kosher salt
'/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment,
cream the butter for I minute. With the mixer on low
speed, add the Parmesan, thyme, salt, and pepper and combine.
With the mixer still on low, add the flour and combine until the
mixture is in large crumbles, about I minute. If the dough is too
dry, add I teaspoon water.
Dump"the dough onto a floured board, press it into a ball, and
roll into a 9 -inch log. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least
30 minutes or for up to 4 days.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut the log into
3/8-inch-thick rounds with a small, sharp knife and place them on
a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 22 minutes,
until very lightly browned. Rotate the pan once during baking.

You can make the roll ahead and freeze it for up to 6 months.
Defrost overnight in the refrigerator and then slice and bake when
you're ready to serve the crackers.
*Grind the Parmesan in a food processor fitted with a steel blade.
