I'm planning on being there all day Saturday from early morning to ???.

I'll have to give Alamo Feed a call and ask if they carry King Feed. They aren't listed on the website but maybe they were missed or it needs to be updated.

I understand not wanting to keep aggressive roosters. I have had Cuckoo Marans in the past & my roosters were docile. I did have a Barred Rock rooster that went after my grand daughter & he was dead within 5 minutes. My son says the roosters react differently to him than me. I have had absolutely no signs of aggression from any of my guys but my son says everytime he walks by the pen someone charges the fence at him..........go figure.

I lost my mom a few years ago and I know how rough that first Christmas is!

I'm glad that we both made it through December and that it is now January!

I'm so looking forward to the Stockton show and that will get me through the next few weeks! You are going to it, aren't you???

Thanks Debbi! And of course I'm planning on going to the show!! Been looking forward to it and can't wait to see everyone. What day(s) are you planning on attending? I'll probably be on my own so if you don't mind a tag along I think it would be fun to meet up!

Also, I think the rep said that Alamo feed also sold the King line of feed. In case Livermore doesn't have exactly what you need. Sometimes they are low on stock ......I've never been into Alamo feed, just pass it on the way to the craft store.....

I really need to cut back on my hobbies!!!

You & me both about the hobbies......LOL I can't find time to do it all & do justice to any of them.......
Wheeler's Feed in Modesto has King Feed if that is any help to anyone.

I will be at the Stockton Show all day Saturday & if I can talk myself into showing that Blue Orpington pullet I will be there Sunday too. I will be driving from Turlock & have room for a few others if anyone needs a ride. I went last year & really enjoyed it. I will take my walker in case I poop out before I have had enough time to see it all. I loved the Santa Rosa Hierloom Expo but ruined my fun by overdoing so I will be prepared from now on..............LOL Getting old is NOT for whimps. I hate having to pace myself so much but it is certainly better than the alternative...............LOL
The Delta Poultry Meetup group is going to be meeting up there too so I will be with them part of the time. We have regulary meetups every couple of months usually in Linden/Galt/Stockton area & I always try to go. It seems I just can't get enough "chicken talk" being just around home..........................LOL

Thanks, sewand grow. He doesn't seem to discriminate between people--he'll take on all comers! I live on a property with several co-tenants, and he's gone after a strapping guy who's six feet tall, his girlfriend, an older lady who fed the chickens for me over Christmas, and me. Most of the attacks have occurred when the chickens are free ranging around the property, though, and I wonder if that has something to do with it. He's never attacked me when in the coop. It's too bad, really. He's a handsome guy and seems to be fulfilling his role as guardian of the ladies; I just wish he could discriminate between real predators and caretaking humans.

Give him more time--He is still a rambunctious teen ager..

We will have to plan accordingly for the show!! Early Saturday sounds good to me! And if I remember what the rep said correctly, Alamo was a new vendor so maybe you're right and they haven't updated their website.

Starfish,
I understand not wanting to destroy the rooster & I don't know that aggression is genetic but I hate being afraid to walk around freely. I have many free range roosters that sometimes have to establish dominance amongst themselves but none of them charge me expect happily wanting me to feed them. In fact sometimes I can reach right down & pick them up they are so docile. I always have way too many cockerels so I only pen my breeders & let the rest free range. There are propably 2 dozen of them out there roaming around. I just got my turkey fryer hooked up to a new propane tank to use as my scalding pot & hope to process a few of the extras this afternoon.
Good luck with your guy.

Posted this on the Egg train thread but thought I'd throw it here and on the All California thread...since it's so last minute...
Incredibly last minute but I had to come to San Francisco for a procedure on my back today and I'm staying in the city tonight and am flexible about what time going home to Paradise tomorrow (have someone staying at the place to take care of all my animals). Sooooo, does anyone need eggs or chickens transported from or between the Bay Area to Paradise (Butte County) area? I'd be willing. PM me and we'll see if I can help.
Pam

Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone! I believe I have a found a new owner for my rooster in the south bay. She wants him to breed to her cuckoo maran hens. So hopefully this story will have a happy ending for all concerned.
