Great observation but I don't have anything to confirm that, it is so funny Sunnydawn, my Oprah and Julia are 8 1/2 months old and not laying yet - I guess slow to mature and my eng orps are only 5 months so it will be a real treat to make that observation. They all eat like pigs in my pen!

SunnyDawn, I've heard this before. A lot of the American lines have been bred to be higher producing. It will be interesting to see how many eggs my girls give me when they reach point of lay in a couple of months.

Okay folks - take discussion of orps over to the orp thread please...

Personally, I love seeing all the gorgeous birds we all have.

Hey Cheryl - how's your new roo? Is he being less shy? (he seemed a little shy when I was there but you'd just gotten him.)

Ziggy is getting pretty confident now! It's kind of funny he doesn't eat much of the feed. He was on this incredible blend that lotsapaint made with whole grains and Farmer's Helper ultrakibble. Her birds sure look great, I'm trying to find an affordable local source for ultrakibble, in case anyone knows where to get it. http://www.rachelsrobin.com/shop/index.php?page=shop-flypage-42736

The
SPPR girls, Fanny & Sadie have excepted him and seem to take turns on the roost with him at night. When they are free ranging they always hang together, so cute. no crowing yet and no eggs from the girls either

I haven't seen that photo yet. It's great! Sounds like you're off to a good start.

My little divas spent their first night in the Big Girls coop last night. I moved them in after dark.

They're all doing very well so far. No bickering, fighting, riots, carbombs... So I'm pretty happy. I did put the divas in their "home cage" for a while this morning with the chick-feed and vitamin water so they could get some without it being taken by the Big Girls. Now they're back to freeranging. Everyone seems to be getting along well. (I think it helped to let them freerange together for a while before trying to put them in the same coop.)

This afternoon, once it warms up in the shed a bit, I'm going to try to get some work done on the conversion.

I've also found the free ranging together helps quite a bit on combining groups.

The sun just came out here, I'm home waiting on someone to put some extra drainage near the runs and extend the run size, I think we are tripling the size!

We also took down an old spa shed and look at this nice little space that may become someones home!

this is an area by the deck immediately next to the stairs going down to garden...no flowers there ever. It was just ivy and this little shed.

The flower beds and veggie garden are still great thanks
